Frasertown is a small rural settlement situated 8kms North West of Wairoa on State Highway 38 towards Waikaremoana. The school is 151 years old and some of our students are 5th generation Te Kura o Te Kapu students.

Frasertown, with a population of about 300, has a kohanga reo, dairy, a transport company, Te kapu Apiaries, Country Cuts Home kill butchery and the local Tavern.  Other services are nearby at Wairoa (8 km), Gisborne (102 km) and Napier (118 km).

Frasertown is the ideal location for a family who enjoys the outdoors. It's only 50 km to forest-fringed Lake Waikaremoana and Aotearoa's third largest National Park, Te Urewera. It is even closer to Mahia Peninsula, famous for fishing, diving and seaside relaxation. There are hot pool spas at Morere, a world renowned arboretum at Tiniroto and the trout fishing on the upper Ruakituri is awesome.

The town is built on the junction of the Wairoa and Waiau Rivers, whose watersheds offer some of the finest trout fishing in the North Island. Today, water from the river system is used for nearby suburban Wairoa and for the local Affco freezing works.

Within 30 kms of Frasertown are the small farming communites of Tukemokihi, Mangapoike, Ardkeen, Rangiahua and Te Reinga. Many of the schools that once serviced these communites have merged with Frasertown School over our 151 year history.

The roll generally sits at 100 - 120 students, which gives the school up to 5 classes.  Our school student ethnic make up is mainly Māori and European but we also have a number of other cultures which is fabulous!

We are a future-focused school that is built on over 150 years of tradition. Our curriculum links to our charter and both work to set the vision, principles, values and expectations of our school.
